Also known as spalling, there are several causes of it. The first is natural aging and wear. The second is abuse, and the third is snow and freezing weather, which we certainly know about here in Western New York! If your concrete surface is less than five years old, pitting can also be caused from pouring an incorrect mix, such as one that's not as waterproof or resistant to extreme weather as it should be.
